Jane, it might cost you an arm and a leg to ship from LA, but at least you know that your perfect steel tanker desk is out there. It's patiently waiting for you at Rehab Vintage Interiors.
I had the exact same one as in the first photo. I had to leave it on the street when I moved from California. No one would even buy it at my garage sale and it was way too heavy to carry it back in my apartment. After being on the street someone picked it up in a few hours! i loved that desk.
I am sure you could find these in need of a little love but free or very cheap from any university or school recycle/seconds sale.
