Our campsite was on an island, and although we had a canoe to access it, Hollie, Mike & I took a water taxi over there so we didn't have to lug all our stuff. We're lazy, and we like it that way.
The island was super beautiful, and we had the whole giant thing to ourselves.
Well, not entirely to ourselves. Sara, Gary, Brad, Dane, Courtney and Nikki all joined us too. Friends! On an island! I tried to convince everyone we should have been more Survivor-style, banishing someone from the island each night, but no one was having it.
Well, this guy might have been having it. Dead deer skull! You can bet this made Hollie's weekend.
What made my weekend? Lots and lots of swimming.
And awesome bugs to look at. Mosquitoes don't count, because I have about 8 kazillion bites, and it is taking every last inch of my will power not to be furiously scratching them as I type this. But I digress. Aside from this lovely caterpillar, I saw an amazing stick bug that I really did think was a stick, a crayfish, a baby catfish, a GIANT TURTLE that I got to follow in a canoe, and some other cool bug that I'm pretty sure was actually an alien.
It was kind of pretty there too.
Canoe feat! I was a little nervous to canoe back to shore with a boat full of equipment, and even more nervous to stop in the middle of the lake, climb into the middle of the canoe and unzip my bag so I could get my camera and take this picture, BUT I DID IT YOU GUYS.
Overall, great trip.
