We've been slacking with the neighbours posts as of late, but I couldn't be happier to get back to them with the newest addition to James Street North, Mulberry Street Coffeehouse.

After a couple of months of anticipation, Mulberry Street opened yesterday at 193 James North. It is absolutely stunning. See those awesome ceilings? The City of Hamilton actually tried to keep them from restoring them. This city is so backwards sometimes.
Inside, the decor is eclectic and has a heavy emphasis on reclaimed and salvaged materials; including some of our old diner booths. Pieces from local artists adorn the walls, and the entire space is open, airy and filled with lots of beautiful natural light. You can tell from the second that you step inside that a lot of love and joy went into putting Mulberry Street together.

Their menu focuses on local, organic and homemade items and is quite extensive, including baked goods, sandwiches, quiche, soups, and my favourite - Hello Dolly's. I tried the turkey and brie panini yesterday, and it was a little bit of sandwich heaven. The coffee is a custom roast fair-trade, organic, shade-grown blend. They also offer free wifi. Trust me, you'll never want to leave.

Mulberry Street will be having a grand opening party this Friday, August 13th for Art Crawl. There will be good food, good coffee and good vibes. Come down and congratulate Ella and the team on all their hard work and check out a seriously amazing addition to this already amazing community.
You can find Mulberry Street Coffeehouse on Facebook here.

Take MDJ and put it right downtown in an old building? Already my favourite Hamilton coffee shop!
There are just so many details to notice! A fantastic job done by everyone involved. This is the future of downtown, regardless of politics and stadiums.
