New New New

So much new stuff in the shop this week. SO MUCH AMAZING NEW STUFF.

Opening up our latest shipment from Tree & Kimball was a fun day. Jane and I are both head over heels for Lisa Bruemmer's delicate vintage lace pieces, and the addition of colour to her Spring 2011 collection is exquisite. I love her muted colour palette of burnt oranges, peacock blues, apple greens and pale pinks. These were statement pieces when the lace was simply in black or white, now there's no doubt that they'll be one of the most coveted pieces of jewelry you own.

Everyone's favourite mittens by Things By Slo are back in stock, and just when you thought they couldn't get any cuter, this batch come cross stitched with adorable hearts. Made from recycled sweaters, lined with fleece, serged together, and then hand-stitched with love. It doesn't get much better than that. I have a pair myself, and my hands have stayed warm and toasty all winter long. And they will continue to stay toasty and warm because this winter is never going to end. Eff.

We have long been on the search for the perfect soap to carry. Happily, we think our search is over and we've found just that. Upon discovering Rocky Top Soap Shop, it sounded like something out of our dreams. Owner Tony Laudicina not only makes the soap himself using the traditional cold-process technique, but he also grows the ingredients in his own garden, builds the soap molds and cutters himself, and uses all natural products for what he can't grow. He was nice enough to send Jane and I samples so that we can try them out for ourselves. Doesn't that bar of carrot look good enough to eat? And I bet it is.

Edit: Tony tells us "Oh, and DON'T eat the soap. It'll make you sick!"

A brand new shipment of floral studs by Ben & Oliver. These babies sell fast. I didn't put the pair of black roses that I wanted aside, so if you buy them before I get a chance to, it could seriously affect our friendship.

Staying true to our resolution of sourcing more vintage for the store, (and having some really good luck) we've been slowly filling the store with great old finds. We always seem to go through phases with what kind of pieces we're interested in. Right now it seems as though we're on a real scientific kick, with lots of great resource books and some incredible vintage science posters.

So, come on by for a visit and check out our new additions to the shop! We have a really comfy couch and usually some good music playing. Maybe we'll share some of our secret stash of candy with you.
